“What we love about this life are the things that resonate with the life we were made for. The things we love are not merely the best this life has to offer—they are previews of the greater life to come.”
How’s that for an eternal perspective from my brother in Christ, Randy Alcorn? Last Friday I had the distinct pleasure of joining Randy and his friends at the 25-year celebration of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM), the Bible-believing, Christ-centered nonprofit organization that Randy founded and now directs. (How EPM began a quarter century ago is a fascinating and compelling story, one in which Randy was abruptly diverted from his expected path into a prolific writing ministry.)
There is much I could say about Randy’s heart for God and for people, but he’s the bestselling author! How about I share what he has said?
As there will be no second chance for the unbeliever to go back and live his life over again, this time accepting Christ, so there will be no second chance for the believer to go back and live his life over again, this time serving Christ. Now is our window of opportunity. Now is our chance to follow Christ, speak the truth and reach out to the needy in love. Now is our chance to invest our lives in eternity.
Amen and amen! (Can you see why we get along so well?)
I’m humbled, grateful, and deeply appreciative of EPM’s faithful support of LIFE International for many years; Randy told me the other day that he looks forward to many more years of partnership.
Please join me in thanking God for Randy and his wife, Nanci, and for their dedication to the cause of Christ. I encourage you to check out his website for lots of free teaching and discounted books. You’re certainly likely to find something you haven’t read yet…or be reminded of a book you’d like to give away!
(Speaking of giveaways, we’d like to give you a little taste of Randy’s heart by offering you a free copy of his vital foundation of pro-life theology entitled, Why Pro-Life? Caring for the Unborn and Their Mothers.)
Once you check out his bookstore, I won’t be surprised if you find yourself thinking, “Oh, he wrote that? And that? And that? And that!” Pick one that looks good…or just cover your eyes and “add to cart”—you can’t go wrong!
I love all of Randy’s books and I’ve read nearly every one, and given many away to my friends. But the book I read every year is Safely Home. This book has given me a unique, life-transforming eternal perspective (there’s that phrase again!) on why I exist and what must be my daily agenda. I encourage you to order it for a great fall read (or listen)!
